Who we are<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wed Lightly (\u201cwe\u201d, \u201cus\u201d, \u201cour\u201d) offers intimate, elopement-style wedding ceremonies in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information when you visit wedlightly.nz or otherwise get in touch with us, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This policy applies to this website only. It doesn\u2019t cover other websites we may link to, or services provided by other suppliers (photographers, venues, celebrants other than Lisa) that couples engage separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. What personal information we collect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now this site is informational \u2014 there\u2019s no booking form, payment system or newsletter sign-up on it. What we do collect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contact details you give us directly \u2014 for example if you email or message us with an enquiry (name, email address, phone number, wedding details, preferences).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Technical and usage information collected automatically when you browse the site \u2014 such as IP address, device\/browser type, pages viewed and how you found us \u2014 via Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook\/Instagram) Pixel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photos, video or stories that couples choose to share with us for marketing, only with their specific consent (see section 7).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we add online bookings, payments or a mailing list to the site in future, we\u2019ll update this policy before those features go live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. How we collect it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most personal information comes directly from you \u2014 for example, when you email us about your wedding. Some technical information is collected indirectly, through cookies and similar technology operated by third parties (Google and Meta) when you browse the site \u2014 see section 5 for what that involves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Why we collect and use it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We use personal information to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>respond to your enquiry and help plan your ceremony;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>understand how people use our website, so we can improve it;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>show our advertising to people likely to be interested in similar services (via Meta); and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>with your consent, share real wedding stories and photos in our marketing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We only use personal information for the purpose we collected it for, or a closely related purpose, unless you agree otherwise or the law requires it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Cookies, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our website uses cookies and similar technologies from two third-party providers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Google Analytics \u2014 collects information about how visitors use our site (pages viewed, time on site, general location, device type). This data is processed by Google and may be stored on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States. You can opt out using Google\u2019s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by adjusting your cookie preferences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meta Pixel \u2014 helps us understand and measure the ads we run on Facebook and Instagram, and may link your visit to a Facebook or Instagram account if you\u2019re logged in. This data is processed by Meta and may be stored overseas. You can manage this through your Meta ad preferences, or by declining non-essential cookies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re telling you about these tools specifically because some of the information they collect about you comes to us indirectly, through Google and Meta, rather than directly from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Who we share information with, including overseas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We don\u2019t sell personal information. We may share it with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>our website host, [1st Domains \u2014 New Zealand-based];<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Google (Analytics) and Meta (Pixel), as described above \u2014 both store data overseas, mainly in the United States;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>professional advisers (such as our accountant or lawyer), where reasonably necessary; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>anyone else where required or authorised by law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where personal information is held overseas, privacy and data protection standards may differ from New Zealand\u2019s. We take reasonable steps to only use well-known providers with their own privacy safeguards, but we can\u2019t guarantee an overseas provider will handle information exactly as New Zealand law would require.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Photos and stories from real weddings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019d love to occasionally share real ceremonies \u2014 photos, video, or the couple\u2019s story \u2014 on our website, social media or in other marketing. We only do this with your specific, separate consent, which we\u2019ll ask for directly. You can decline, limit how we use it (e.g. website only, not social media), or ask us to take something down later by contacting us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photos or video taken by a photographer or videographer the couple hires separately are covered by that supplier\u2019s own terms, not this policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Keeping your information safe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We store personal information securely \u2014 enquiry emails and planning notes are kept on password-protected devices and accounts, and our website is hosted with reasonable security measures in place. Only Lisa Cornelissen (and anyone she specifically authorises to help deliver your ceremony) can access it. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. How long we keep it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We keep enquiry and wedding-planning information only as long as we reasonably need it for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law \u2014 for example, financial and business records are generally kept for at least seven years under New Zealand tax law. After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Your rights \u2014 access and correction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it\u2019s wrong. To do this, contact us using the details in section 14. We\u2019ll respond as soon as reasonably practicable (usually within 20 working days), may need to verify your identity first, and in limited circumstances allowed by the Act may need to withhold some information \u2014 if so, we\u2019ll explain why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. If you\u2019re contacting us from overseas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many couples who reach out to us are planning an elopement to New Zealand from overseas. This policy is written to meet the requirements of New Zealand\u2019s Privacy Act 2020. If you\u2019re based somewhere with its own privacy laws \u2014 for example the UK or EU (GDPR) or Australia \u2014 those laws may give you additional rights. We\u2019re happy to help with a request under your local law, but this policy doesn\u2019t claim full compliance with any privacy regime other than New Zealand\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12. Children\u2019s privacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our services and this website are aimed at adults planning a wedding. We don\u2019t knowingly collect personal information from children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13. Changes to this policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We may update this policy from time to time \u2014 for example, if we add new features like online booking or a mailing list. The current version will always be posted on this page, with the \u201cLast updated\u201d date above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14. Concerns or complaints<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re unhappy with how we\u2019ve handled your personal information, please contact us first (details below) \u2014 we\u2019d like the chance to put things right.
